Today I’m reviewing ‘ENCORE PROVENCE’ by Peter Mayle
Blurb (by Amazon):
ENCORE PROVENCE continues the account of an Englishman’s life abroad. Among other curiosities, explore a school for noses in Haute Provence, the mysterious death of an oversexed butcher, the quest for the finest bouillabaisse and an assortment of the characters who lie in wait in bars and on boules courts. And, of course, the essential importance of lunch. BON APPETIT!
Did I like it?
Yes. This is THE summer read. Even if you should read it in winter, you get a bit of a summery feeling. Peter Mayle’s not talking about anything that’s particularly important and thus about all that is important. “How to spend a hot summer day” “The school for noses”
What I didn’t like?
Nothing. The book is as perfect as it gets
Would I recommend it?
A hot day, sitting in the shades, some nice refreshments. Nothing important and pressing to do. The book and you could spend a nice afternoon enjoying life. Would be the perfect beach read if a beach would be necessary to enjoy the book. If you should have a week to spoil, read all 3 books in a row. 18 out of 20 points
